Family Leave

We offer up to 10 weeks of leave for new parents – irregardless of gender – that have worked at GaeaStar for at least 6 months.

GaeaStar will pay the equivalent of up to 4 weeks of your most recent salary, but we ask that you apply for state and / or insurance benefits first. For example, California offers up to 8 weeks of pay for family leave [
] at about 60 to 70 % of your weekly wages. If found eligible, GaeaStar will cover the difference to bring you up to full pay [].

Mothers additionally are often eligible for short-term disability benefits (through SDI or our own short-term disability insurance) which could pay for 2-8 weeks of leave; or longer, if there are complications during child birth.

We are happy to help you figure out how to claim these benefits when the time comes.

You may already be eligible for state and insurance benefits before passing the waiting period.

This employer benefit is not an addition to state programs. Specifically, we ask that you apply for benefits you might be eligible for and will then generally ensure that you (1) can take at least 10 weeks off, whether paid or not and (2) get paid for at least 4 weeks of those.
