SLACK ONBOARDING

From participant: I had to create my own workspace to be in just the channel. My panick yesterday was that it initially connected through my church slack channel and listed that information in the channel, which I did not like. If you have the capacity going forward, it'd be nice if you had a FORM slack workspace and then shared access to it--in just the specific channel with external guests--with the people you invite.

EMAIL

- Make sure first communication with participants gives brief description of FORM and intros co-host

NEWSLETTER

Nate: Do you think we could tap Jr. for some tips on the header of our email? Maybe there’s a fls+ branded image we could use? I think having something that’s striking and familiar at the top would resonate well.
Melanie: FORM needs its own branding: email headers, ppt templates, images to drop in slack, etc

ROLES

Nate: We discussed and began to shape out three major roles after the Kickoff.
Host: Ideally this is a well known personality or experienced Keynote speaker. They would share their energy and personality through the lens of improv thinking and fls+. If this were SNL they would be The Host for the week.
Shortstop: This person plays a role in-between Host and Tech. They jump in with Host to share some important bullet points but don’t take the spotlight for too long. They assist Tech with any behind the scenes cues. This person would run the lower stakes Cohort Connect meetings.
Tech:
Behind the scenes person who runs slides and sound cues
Make sure all sound effects, music, video are linked in ROS so that host/co-host can help if tech person goes down

KICKOFF

Learnings from
develop protocol and process for tech support
(the Dr. Limb video didn’t start)
For tech:
exit and restart zoom before meeting
restart computer that day
Music:
add music at all transitions
Roles:
Celebrity Host:
A bullet point intro (sharing of their personal experience)
Improv on stage
Improv in real-life
Guest in the slack at their availability (preplan based on calendar)
During run through of kickoff... or FORMAL recording at studio... get videos “record these radio drops” aka “shot list”
from Nate, think of it as SNL. The host doesn’t run it but they are face and influence
Co-host (Shortstop):
they make sure all bullet points are hit
Take Five! (zoom style)
Intros + Questions to start off in the chat: Where are you joining us from? Quick question: What did you have for breakfast? etc.
support the tech, if needed
support the host, and energy!
ALSO ...
runs cohort connects
keeping it conversational
runs the slack channel
signs the newsletter
TO DO: Create intro message, create email signature with headshot for newsletter, future: can add bios on website “meet our FORM hosts”
Tech-host:
Slide deck
Music/sound effects
Video
Best practices:
Feedback from participant: Anyone joining should be on camera and participating since we are asking them to do the same (seems hiding non-video participants didn’t cut it for this participant)

Slack Community drops

shockwave in Slack - 7/26/23

Funny that every time in Slack game instructions, even when it explicitly says to reply in thread, people rarely do… Maybe next time when we introduce the next GOTW, we enter the instructions in the thread. Then, when replying in thread is called for, it can say something like “reply in thread (like how these instructions are in the thread)” or something like that.
Re: Posting Embedded video vs Vimeo links. Jaime’s concern was ppl can download. Admin can block downloading in Slack.

SQUAD

Add an instruction to create calendar invite while in breakout (assuming this means during the kickoff?)

IRL Challenge

Future: Tell us a story from this week where you wanted to say ‘no’ but instead choose to say ‘yes’

ASSESSMENTS

Need one at beginning and end that is longer and allows us to see progress
Need mini ones each week to reinforce learning and take pulse/temp check of group
