Eugenics is the practice and advocacy of improving the human species by selectively mating people with specific desirable hereditary traits.
How did Eugenics came into being?
Today, most people associate eugenics with Nazi Germany, but it was from these American eugenicists and Galton-followers that the Nazis largely took their inspiration.
“I have studied with great interest the laws of several American states concerning stopping reproduction by people whose pregnancy would, in all probability, be of no value or cause injury to the racial stock,”.
Francis Galton, the father of eugenics, and his intellectual descendants and fellow eugenicists Karl Pearson and Ronald Fisher are responsible for the extreme popularity of eugenics.
Where was it practiced ?
From 1909 to 1979, around 20,000 sterilizations occurred in just in the California state mental institutions.
Thirty-three states would eventually allow involuntary sterilization on people, lawmakers deemed unworthy to procreate.
investigation, between 25 and 50 percent of Native Americans were sterilized between 1970 and 1976.
Hitler didn’t come up with the concept of a superior Aryan race all on his own. In fact, he referred to American eugenics in his 1934 book, Mein Kampf. In the late 1930s, Hitler's eugenic-based national program of "race hygiene" had escalated into a program of euthanasia targeting both children and adults.
Many city governments in the 20’s were overwhelmed by issues of crime and poverty, and they thus embraced the principles of eugenics, which placed the blame for a city's social dilemmas on the victims themselves, rather than on inadequate approaches to solving the problems of the urban poor.
In early 2018, officials at University College London were shocked to learn that meetings organized by “race scientists” and neo-Nazis, called the London Conference on Intelligence, had been held at the college the previous four years.
Pearson claimed to establish that the children (especially girls) were on average less intelligent than their non-Jewish counterparts, and their intelligence was not significantly correlated with any environmental factor that could be improved, (so jewish girls are born dumber) this “scientific” study was a huge catalyst in the german population agreeing with hitler and becoming more anti-semetic.
