With all these atrocities committed, maintaining the colonial legacy of Cecil Rhodes is just intense gaslighting🙄 📌Thankfully, the name Rhodesia was scrapped and replaced with indigenous names such as Zimbabwe. Cultural Appopratation:

Blackface

This is the practice of white/other race individuals painting their faces black to mimic Black individuals. This not only generalizes Black communities, this also wrongly marginalized people. Moreso, this originated in the context of slavery, which treats Black individuals highly oppressively 😠. Blackface is mimicry of people based on the color of their skin, which is highly racist.

Jazz

Sure, Dave Brubeck is a cool piano player, but Jazz came from Black Americans. So listen to Cory Henry, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis if you wanna listen. Acknowledge the roots and face the white appropriation of jazz, and the racism that white jazz musicians are periodically recognized much more for their work than Black musicians due to systemic racism while Black musicians in America are systemically ignored even though they created the jazz genre. when jazz first started it was seen as immoral until it was appropriated by white musicians (cough cough Benny Goodman's swing music). in addition that some white musicians continue to whitewash and reference jazz roots with racist terms such as calling the origins of jazz rhythms "primitive" and in need to be "tamed" by white musicians
