General guidelines & tips
Action plan
Consider your group’s organizational capacity and how many people may show up Decide if you will be staying in one location or marching Ideas: Displaying banners and signs, chanting, speeches, handing out flyers to the passersby, singing, etc. Pick a place & time
Choose a time that works best for you & your co-organizers Offices of ministries/departments of foreign/international affairs United Arab Emirates embassies/consulates Your local government representative/MP/congressperson High walking-traffic locations in your area to hand out flyers about Sudan Things to consider: Is the location accessible for attendees? Is it viewable to the public/passersby? Is the location on public property or private property? Is there a risk of arrest? Gather support
Share info about your protest within your local activist networks and community Post on your social media about your protests and tag local activist groups/people that could help amplify Create visual materials
Make signs and/or banners with messages such as: Climate activists for Sudan Bring Sudanese flags or paint them on signs Amplify Sudanese organization & fundraisers
Direct attendees to follow Sudanese advocacy organizations and activists on social media Share petitions, open letters, or campaigns from Sudanese organizations with attendees using QR codes or flyers with links Check if any Sudanese organizations in your area/country have campaigns they need amplified Encourage attendees to donate to and share Sudanese-led aid initiatives helping people on the ground (see page) Safety
Ensure that you look out for one another and keep each other safe during the action and when dispersing Document your action
Take photos and videos of your protest to share on social media. Use the hashtags #TalkAboutSudan and #KeepEyesOnSudan to raise awareness
