The purpose of this salary guide is to provide an up-to-date insight of salaries in Australia in core functions of Product, Engineering, Design, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance and People.
This survey consists of data from start-up technology companies in Australia, across software, e-commerce, fin-tech, consulting, cyber security, logistics, and travel-tech. The data was collected from Sydney and Melbourne sources. Below is the number of employees in these companies, with the largest participation group having 100-250 employees (35%), closely followed by both 10-50 and 50-100 employees at 23%.
Number of Employees
We also captured the capital raised in these companies, with 34% raising $10-50m, and 28% raising $5-10m and $50m+.

The Results
Overview
We found that on average there was no clear correlation between salaries offered and the number of employees, industry or capital raised. The driver was based on skill level. It was more difficult to measure the salaries for some roles in some functions like Marketing and Operations, as experience and responsibility can vary a lot. And we did not get a large enough dataset for Marketing and Finance to be confident in the results.
