☝️ Important
In order to maintain fun and fairness, please follow the guidelines and rules on this page. These can be customized for your own teams.

Guidelines

Remember to before you can start playing your first match
Warm-up sessions before a match must not exceed 10-minutes
Once the warm-up session is over, you can spend as much time as you need to finish a match, where players need to win 2 of 3 matches to win.
First player who scores 11 points wins the game; first player who wins the 3rd of 3 games wins
Players will call their own plays, but if players cannot agree on a call, it’s a ‘let’ and the point must be replayed.
Always be encouraging, welcoming, and prioritize fun over winning.

Rules of Play

Start of play

The winner of a coin toss can choose who serves first or which end of the table to start the match on. The other player get to decide the remaining option.
Players rotate sides after each game.

Serves

A legal serve is one that lands on the opponents’ side without touching the net.
If on a serve the ball touches net and does not go over, a point will be given to the opponent.
If on a serve the ball touches the net and goes over, it is considered a ‘let’ and must be replayed; if a ‘let’ happens on the 2nd serve, the point goes to the opponent.
Each player serves for 2 points. After each 2 points, you switch servers, and so on until the end of the game.
The player who served first in a game will be receiver at the start of the next game.

Scoring

If a player completes a serve, successfully returns the opponent’s ball so that it lands on the opponents side, they win the point, otherwise the receiver wins the point.
A player loses a point if they:
Fails to make a good serve (i.e. throwing the ball in the air and failing to hit the ball or failing to hit the ball onto the opponent’s side of the table)
Allows the ball to bounce twice on their side of the table
Does not hit the ball after it has bounced on their side of the table
Does not hit the ball onto their opponent’s side of the table
Hits the ball twice in succession (i.e. a double hit)
If there’s someone or some thing obstructing a successful return, the point is replayed, even if it lands on the opponents side of the table.
