Trying out sessions (aka microteaching):

Groups will be invited to try out excerpts from lessons in class (5-10 mins, it can be any part of a lesson: intro, parts of body, conclusion), with the rest of the class acting as learners or observers. The excerpts could be based on:
something the group is preparing to teach (a rehearsal of a future lesson)
something a group has taught already and it went really well (sharing good practices)
something a group has taught already and it proved problematic, so the group teaches a revised, re-imagined lesson (an opportunity to creatively explore possibilities)
Whichever option you go for, please act as you would in your schools, e.g. bring along any materials you're planning to use - the idea is for these sessions to look real and immersive. You are not supposed to prepare especially for this - the idea is that you try out things that you taught or are about to teach. Also bring along the aims for the lessona and a detailed description of who your learners are so we can ‘do them justice’!
