🌆 Budapest

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends history, culture, and stunning architecture. Straddling the Danube River, the city is known for its thermal baths, including the iconic Széchenyi and Gellért Baths. Visitors can explore the historic Buda Castle, Fisherman's Bastion, and Matthias Church on the Buda side, while the Pest side boasts landmarks like the Hungarian Parliament Building and St. Stephen's Basilica. The city's rich history is reflected in its museums, such as the Hungarian National Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts. Budapest's vibrant culinary scene, lively markets, and vibrant nightlife add to its charm, making it a must-visit destination for tourists.
Most of the evenings and the second weekend you will be free to explore the city center of Budapest, which is a vibrant and fascinating metropolis where there's always something going on, so your leisure time in Hungary is going to be well spent.

🏘️ ACCOMMODATION

The accommodation is located in the city center at Astoria. From the hostel you can easily reach both sides of the city (Buda and Pest), as well as the major landmarks since it’s in the city center.

The location of the accommodation will allow you to have an easy access to grocery and tobacco shops. It is also within 15 minutes walk from the Ukrainian school.
This is a big hostel with 2 bedded rooms, which all have their own showers and toilets. Bed sheets are provided, but you will have to bring your own towel. You will be able to use the kitchen to heat up food. You can also find a gym, common social areas in the building, and roof terrace with fresh air and beautiful city panorama. Before departure all volunteers have to clean-up the rooms.
There is no cleaning staff. It is up to you to keep the rooms tidy, clean them and return them in the same condition as you received them.

🔇 Please keep in mind that loud noises are not allowed after 10 pm, in order to avoid disturbing the peace and quiet of other residents.

📶 The locations have free Wi-Fi, and technical equipment are provided.
🔌 Electricity plug is Type C. ➡️
👗 Laundry service is not available at the venues but it is possible to bring the laundry to the nearest laundry center (has a fee).
There is no hairdryer at the venues.

🍲 MEALS

Lunch will be provided in the Ukrainian school, where non-vegan / non-vegetarian volunteers can eat together with the children. Due to the Jewish rules vegan/vegetarian dishes can be eaten only in the volunteers room.
Breakfast and dinner is self-organized, but covered by the project cost. Each volunteer will receive 5 EUR / day food allowance. Please indicate your special diet in the confirmation form. We will take care of your needs if we are informed ahead.
Tip: If your diet is special/extreme, we suggest you bring some food with you to complement the provided food. In this case you can avoid possible glitches or shortages for unexpected dietary needs.
