Szécsény is a small town in the Nógrád county, Northern Hungary, near the Slovakian border. The recorded population is around 5937 inhabitants.
There is a local bus station from where the bigger towns nearby (Balassagyarmat and Salgótarján) can be reached in 30 minutes, and Budapest in 2 hours. To get to most of the places where activities happen, it will take you between 10 to 40 minutes by bus.
In the town you will also find grocery stores, ATMs, a bank, local restaurants, a pub, a pharmacy, bakeries, second-hand shops, post office, cafés, and tobacco shops.
For your leisure time, Szécsény has a lake where you can go fishing, a beautiful park and hiking spots, and it is only a 30-minute bus ride away from Hollókő, a UNESCO World Heritage village.
