We ask questions in interviews for several reasons. Often in the beginning we are trying to get a back story on our client, build rapport, build trust, and get them to open up so we can get a feel for them as a person.

Instead of asking about their origin story...instead try:
• Tell me about your childhood
• How did you get started?
• How did you get to this point in your career?
• What do you like most about the work that you do?
• What are some of the most common mistakes you see your clients make?
• What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
• What's the best advice you've ever given?
Great segue to get them to open up about their business:
• Who is an ideal client for you, who do you like to attract?
• How do your ideal clients find you?
• Whats working for you to attract more business?
