Service Assurance

Sources of Information

The primary sources of information relating to a service would likely be the organisation website, a recent flyer/poster/advert for a service or direct contact with the providing organisation.

Timeliness

See the Preferred for providers
@Service providers
,
@List managers
,
@Custodians
and
@System Integrators
: Engagement via their preferred method is likely to yield the most accurate results. Check the cadence on the assurance to establish when each service should be assured.

Accuracy, Relevancy, Consistency, Completeness

The following are a series of questions that should be asked of each piece of data registered for a service.
Service Summary Assurance Guide
Title
Assurance Detail
Service Name
Is the Provider name included? If so, does it need to be (is it the official title of the service)?
Is it specific and clear enough?
Can we add one or two more words that may make it better understood?
Is there consistency in naming conventions used between services from the same provider or of the same kind?
Provider
Is the correct provider listed? (Note that the provider itself will be subject to assurance)
Contact Name
Is this the name of an individual or a specific job role?
Is that person likely to be able to a contact for the service rather than a general contact for the organisation?
Have this been verified as still accurate? (i.e. the contact has not changed)
Contact Job Title
Is this the job role of a specific person relating to the service?
Website URL
Is this a URL specific to information about the service rather than the providers website?
Does the link still work?
Email Address
Is this an email address specific to the service?
Have you emailed the address to confirm it is deliverable?
Have you asked them to confirm the service is still live?
Phone Numbers 1&2
Have you called the numbers to check they are still in service?
If answered, have you checked they are still the correct contact number for the service?
Description
Is the description easy to read (reading age 14 yrs+)?
Are the paragraphs/descriptions short?
Does the description contain the 4 pillars?
Next Steps,
Additional Conditions or Eligibility Requirements,
Any other useful links,
any skill levels or commitment required
Is information repeated with regards to sessions/venues?
If so, does it really need to be?
Is it consistent/does it match?
Does the description draw the users attention to any costs?

Meta-Data

It is not enough that the service description is correct, the service has to be categorised properly so that it could be found as part of a sensible search. The data is considered incomplete therefore if the service can not be found based upon criteria alone.
