Our North Star

With this handbook, we aim to make BLR a more fulfilling place for work and life.
Over time, we will collect qualitative and quantitative feedback to learn how this experiment is going and to keep iterating on this handbook. i.e., learn about what we should keep doing; stop doing; and start doing.
We'll collect feedback in two ways:
Get an ongoing feel from the team in the form of casual feedback. This qualitative approach will happen naturally as we implement, experience, and discuss the new concepts and activities.
Periodically survey the team. For this quantitative approach, we created a set of North Star statements that team members will rate once a quarter.
We expect these statements to change over time, as we learn what helps us measure our progress.

On clarity and alignment

Responsibility clarity: I know my responsibilities
Success clarity: I know what successful performance of my responsibilities looks like
Company mission: I know where the company is going
Company mission alignment: I feel my work is important to help the company achieve its mission

On growth and support

Appreciation and recognition: I receive regular appreciation and recognition from my team
Receive improvement feedback: I receive regular tips on how I could improve from my team
Give improvement feedback to team: I feel welcome to give improvement feedback to my team
Skillset growth opportunity: I feel I have the opportunity to grow my technical skills at BLR
Career growth opportunity: I feel I have the opportunity to grow my career at BLR

On team cohesion and relationships

Team support: I feel my team is available to support me when I need it
Team respect: I feel respected by my team
Team inclusion: I feel included by my team
Safety with team: I feel welcome to communicate honestly with my team - voicing concerns, sharing opposing ideas, stating opinions, and sharing vulnerably
Friendships: I have enjoyable conversations with one or more members on subjects other than work
Company activities: I feel the company activities have a positive impact on me

On wellbeing and satisfaction

Physical wellbeing: I feel the company cares about my physical wellbeing
Mental wellbeing: I feel the company cares about my mental wellbeing
Heard: I feel the company cares about my opinion and takes it into consideration
Autonomy: I feel I am given autonomy over how I organize my time and complete my work
Compensated fairly: I feel I’m being compensated fairly
People Satisfaction factor: I would recommend working at BLR to a friend or acquaintance. (NPS)
