Welcome to TK Co.!

If you spent some time in the media world and want to connect with others who have the same experience, you’re in the right place.
We’re so excited you’ve joined us. This is the community hub where you can find resources, content, event recordings, and other things you might need to get as much value out of this group as possible.

The TK Co. Mission

TK Co. is a Slack community that supports people who have left traditional media — or aspire to do so! The community’s mission is to champion the value of the editorial skillset and advocate for better opportunities for those who possess it.

Simply put, TK Co. is a place to find real connection with others who have transitioned out of editorial careers. Many members find high-quality job leads, advice, and mentorship. Learn from those who have successfully launched new careers in tech, e-commerce, non-profit, and more, and make the most of your existing transferable skills.

Getting Started

Sign into the Slack and head over to the #1-introduce-yourself channel and give a little intro in this format:

👋 About me
Add some bullet points about you! Where you’re from, what you do, anything else you want the community to know about you (the more you share, the more connections you’ll make right out of the gate!)
✏️ Work
Where did you start your career? Where have you worked?
What are you doing now?
What kind of work would you do if you could do anything?

💡 My specialties
What’s your niche? What are your superpowers?

⭐ Why I joined Tell the group what you hope to get out of this community!
Browse channels with the + sign in the menu on the left and join channels that appeal to you! Don't be shy — start conversations in any channel. Get the party started!
For conversation hygiene, try to reply in-thread instead of in-channel.
