Step 7: Know Why You’re Here And What You’re Doing

It's extremely important to define why you want to be part of the business and what you want to achieve within it. Look at your goals in 3 stages; short-term, mid-term, and long-term. Motivation can come from freedom, fame, fortune, family, most likely it is a combination of all four and will change over time. Make sure you share your goals with a mentor to help hold yourself accountable.

Success can be defined by:

🧠 Ensuring what I do in the short term is in line with my long term goals
When asked “What am I here to do today?”, I can have a short term outlook or long term perspective.

Short Term Perspective

I’m here to make money
I just want to have fun today
Learn some skills

Long Term Perspective

Developing my character by learning how to handle rejection
Learning to be a stronger, more resilient person so I can lead a team one day
Learning the marketing and sales systems to run my own business in the future
I’m learning to achieve my targets so I will be able to train my team to do so in the future
Usually people who have a long term perspective will have long term success.
People with a short term outlook will get frustrated and give up more quickly.
This is commonly known as the Marshmallow effect.
