Standard Operating Procedure:

PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to take the first step in creating a script for our clients to use in their educational videos.

POLICY
Each script is assigned in Trello by
The scripts all have deadlines and any needed documents that will be essential for the writer.

PARTY
Julie Marcus is responsible for writing the first draft scripts and then submitting them to Diana Pabalan for review. Diana then submits them to the client. The client returns with any comments / suggestions for changes and Julie then reviews and updates the script accordingly.

PROCEDURE
Assignment defined
Task received in Trello along with any relevant files
Deadline is set
Create outline / framework
Create a folder for xxDraftScripts
Inside folder, create a google doc for each module
Take the course outline and copy/paste each module into the appropriate google doc to use as reference. This saves time having to go back and forth and you’ll create the text under each of the video headings.
Utilize the information in the relevant files to create a starter framework for each script (you already have the outline in each module google doc to start)
Relevant information is as follows:
Vision Clarity - this is helpful in the introduction module - determines why people are taking this course and what the instructor is hoping for them to learn / achieve. It also gives an emotional reason to why the instructor is giving this course and draws in the viewer
Content call notes from Danielle - often Danielle will summarize what she got from the content call
Typically this information is broken down by module and video - copy the relevant information into each of your google docs to use as reference
Content call - use the call for tone of voice but the transcript for content to use in the script
Similar to the content call notes, go through this script and copy / paste the relevant content into your google docs so that all notes are put together in one place.
Client provided information - sometimes a client will also provide extra content, a ppt or word doc that will give us some text to utilize in our writing, also go through this and copy / paste any information needed into the appropriate google docs.
Write draft script
Now that you have all of the information from your various resources, it’s time to put it all together.
Go through one video at a time using the information that was copied and pasted to put it into a readable format, trying to keep to a similar tone of voice as the instructor in the content call
At times, it may be necessary to research additional information - make sure to note any references to where you get this information.
Submit draft script
Script URL is copied into trello and submitted to Diana
Writer does not “see” it again until the edits come back from the client
Receive comments and edit accordingly
Client submits any comments or changes and writer edits them and resubmits to Diana.
