Connect ADO and Coda

Use these step-by-step instructions to connect your Coda account to ADO (click triangles ▶ to expand a line for more details).

1. Click “Insert” in the upper right of your Coda doc.

2. Choose the “Packs” tab.

3. Search for Azure DevOps.

4. Click on Azure DevOps and select “Add to Doc” or “Request Pack” depending on your organization’s settings.

5. Once installed, choose the “Settings” tab of the Azure DevOps pack and connect an account.

6. Authenticate with Azure DevOps.

Authenticating with Azure DevOps will bring you to a new tab and will ask you to sign in to ADO in your normal manner, whether that be via SSO or username/password.

Granting admin approval

If you get the error Need admin approval when trying to authenticate, ask your Microsoft Entra ID admin to visit the following URL to approve access: https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/adminconsent?client_id=291c63e1-10c6-41a1-ad10-ba69a874ae18

7. Choose who can view data.

A window will open asking who can view data from ADO. You must allow anyone the doc is shared with the view data in the doc.

8. Choose who can take actions.

A window will open asking who can take actions in ADO from your Coda doc. Choose whether you would like others to log in to their own ADO account to create new tasks or if you would like them to create them from your account.
Only you (recommended): ADO will be set up in this doc, but if others want to create new tasks or edit tasks in ADO they will have to log in with their own accounts to do so. This is recommended for docs shared with others to force users to authenticate with their own credentials before creating or editing tasks from your doc.
Anyone this doc is shared with: Anyone with access to this doc can use your ADO authorization credentials to create and edit tasks. This will create new tasks in ADO as though they were created by you.

9. Sync changes back to ADO.

With two-way sync, any changes you make in Coda can be pushed back to ADO to keep all your data updated in both environments. Head to your table options under the sync tab and turn on the two-way sync toggle to enable this.
