Covid-19 continues to be the main influence impacting the rate of new events being added to the B.com MP throughout 2021.
1) At least 39 different lockdowns announced or were ongoing throughout the quarter (this doesn’t include curfews as is the case with Spain)
2) Those lockdowns directly impacted 267 (38%) cities on the 2021 list of targeted cities.
3) Of the 130 cities scheduled to have 10x events in the market, 83 (63%) were directly impacted by lockdowns.
We’re adding new products, but not enough existing products are remaining online.
1) Total product has grown by 43% over the last 18 months.
2) For every 1x new event added into our platform, we’re taking 2x offline.
3) Unavailable events (those where the supplier has disconnected availability) have grown 100% over the same period.
(Unavailable = the calendar has expired/API disconnected - it tends to happen to suppliers that we lose contact with or that go out of business)
There are promising signs Q2 2021 will see improvements.
1) Only a small number of lockdowns will continue into April.
2) Number of online events is now the highest its been for at least 18 months.
3) The rate of increase is encouraging - since Oct 2019, we’ve grown online events by 38%. The first 20% of this took 15 months, the next 18% has happened in the last 4 weeks.
