I've spent nearly my entire career in some form of pre-construction or sales role using a variety of well known and proprietary software programs. Like many, I would typically default to some form of spreadsheet setup for home estimating and costing records with 50+ tabs and overly complicated formulas. Once I started digging into the database power of Coda I knew I could use create something far more user friendly.
Here's a brief description of each section:
ー Your master filter with drop downs for Market, Unit Types, Phase Codes ー Enter a count per unit type ー Apply % variables to be added or subtracted from your baseline or control market ー Uses pricing from control market *unit mix* variables previously defined ー Summary of costs per phase or trade ー Summary of costs by item ー Summary of costs by unit type by market. The columns here do need to be manually added and formulas modified as new markets or units are added
DATA SOURCES
ー Source data. This will hold all items by market with quantities and unit pricing per unit type and market. ー Could be Markets, Cities, or Project Names - used in drop down filters and formula reference ー Dwelling Units/ Floorplan Names - used in drop down filters and formula reference ー Aka cost codes - used in drop down filters and formula reference ー Dwelling Units/ Floorplan Names - used in drop down filters and formula reference
This is a continual work in progress. The goal is that this can help simplify cost modeling and maintenance for production home construction. Feedback is always welcome. Enjoy!
