Gratitude for our Outgoing Chair

Dear Christy,

After thoughtful discernment and prayer, and in consultation with you and our Session Liaison Christoph, I have

invited Molly Andrews Burke⁠

to serve as our next Chair of the Children and Family Ministry Committee, effective August 1st, 2023. Molly has graciously agreed to serve in this capacity for two years, concluding her term on July 31st, 2025. Thanks be to God!

Christy, there is a long list of thank yous we wish to share:

First, thank you for agreeing to co-establish the ministry collaboratively and in consultation with the staff and volunteers of the CFM. During our administrative restructuring process, your fine-tuned care, world-class expertise, and dedicated service significantly enhanced our mission, goals, and capacity to minister to children and families.

Additionally, during a years-long global pandemic, you helped us re-imagine and pioneer best practices in Christian formation. I will personally remain ever-grateful for your work at a time when listening and moving through liminal space was the only way through.

Third, thank you for modeling sound approaches to the arts of teaching pedagogy, storytelling, gathering, pastoral care and outreach. Our volunteers are more equipped and motivated than ever thanks to your unique contribution to this work.

Finally, and on another personal note, I am sincerely grateful for your persistent curiosity, sensitive support, and wise advice. I am honored to name you as mentor.

Incoming Chair Molly, Liaison Christoph, and I sincerely appreciate your support during this time of transition. I also know that our Incoming Chair looks forward to consulting with you on this important role further. Additionally and if possible, Molly, Christoph, and I hope you will accept our invitation to remain on the committee as Former Chair and Member. We have been blessed by your work and pray you will continue serving in the advisory, discernment, and collaborative steering capacities of the membership.
