What is a Custom Neon Sign?

The neon sign is actually a very durable and efficient form of light bulb, very similar to a fluorescent lamp. They are made from long glowing gas tubes that have been heated and bent into various shapes and letters.
Custom neon sign peaked in popularity during the 1920s to 1960s, but really disappeared in the 1990s with the rise of LED technology.
Although the word "neon" is used to describe this type of light, neon gas is only used to create about a third of the colors including reds, oranges, and bold shades of pink.
Argon gas mixed with a drop of mercury is used to create blues, yellows, greens, purples and whites as well as some lighter pinks.
When the current hits the electrodes in the tube, its atoms begin to glow.
