Our home was built in the 1960s and had some beautiful but dated patterns. We tore them out but kept the pics.
We also tore out back and front yards overflowing with prize winning (but thorny asshole) roses, which we came to learn were the joy of many passing walkers.
(so we left them a few for their ogling)
And we planted a billion native perennials in their place:
common milkweed
cardinal flower
prairie smoke
Eastern Redbud, anchoring the back yard.
2020 -> 2024
We stripped and refinished the original kitchen doors and drawers.
We covered the original floors which were showing their age.
We replaced the roof and attic insulation.

June 2024
We flirted with a vine wall until it tried to infiltrate the house.
May 2021
July 2024
And we gave nearly everything a good refresh.
But as we cleaned our small corner of Scarborough, the world around us seemed to be getting dirtier.
