As the owner my desire is to take an unconventional (though what I believe to be proper) role. I wish to take an active role in day-to-day affairs. In this car, passion is the driver; this organization, to me, is a labor of love - I believe that taking an active role is the best way to proceed. What do I mean by active role? I’ve employed a little bit of word-play to convey how I see myself in this role...

confluence_coordinator

I hope to utilize my keyboard, my phone, and the Confluence app to keep the communication flowing and maintain cohesion. My hope is to both keep everyone together and to bring out the best in everyone. Though I’m well aware that technical skills are critical to an organization, I’m also aware that soft skills can be just as crucial. I like the word “confluence” because it not only implies the medium intended to be used on the back-end, but also the meaning of people coming together.

hexologist

Uniting business with data is a passion of mine (data science in simpler terms). My platform of choice is - hence the name “hexologist.” This is a passion of mine - a hobby - and is very flexible and potent in its effectiveness; so why not bring this skill to the organization? That’s what I’m thinking. I hope to keep a close eye on all kinds of internal operations - statistics and viz wise - always improving in skill and beauty, and always communicating this data effectively.

the Vth

My favorite book on business is “The Vth Discipline” by Peter Senge. This book is the culmination of a lifetime of study on business management (not the only one but my favorite one). It’s not easy to always be using your own intuition to solve management problems - being left in the dark about potential tools in terms of books, courses, seminars, etc. With all this, the simplest thing (I believe) is to use one book as a guide and implement it thoroughly - narrow and deep vs. broad and superficial. I hope to use this book as the primary book to illuminate all things critical to our operation. The number 5 strikes a chord with me - using the idea of the “Invisible Hand,” the number five represents 5 fingers, or the completion of the invisible hand (meaning it is know functioning properly). All the models in this book are critical, though the book is essentially about creating a “learning organization” and mastering “systems thinking” - which is the role I intend to play.
