Evacuation Info UPDATE-- Routes & Emergency Procedures: See links below but sure to check for updates in case any information has changed.
THANKS TO ALL WILDCAT FIREWISE HOMEOWNERS WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO SHARE EMERGENCY EXITS, VIA BACK GATES, WITH THEIR IMMEDIATE NEIGHBORS!
Because all streets in Wildcat Firewise are cul-de-sacs, we are working to identify homeowners living on the west side of the streets of our community who have a back gate that will allow a safe walking exit, in case fire, earthquake or windstorms block our ability to exit or evacuate. We have been successful in identifying such emergency exit routes on every block. We will be making a master map but only sharing the information with residents on the streets impacted. Some sort of inconspicuous symbol (perhaps on a mailbox) will remind just the residents on their street, how to escape to a lower level if the street is blocked. Details to follow later in September but spread the word to your immediate neighbors and familiarize yourself with options on your street.
THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN EVACUATION DRILL FOR EITHER THE KENSINGTON OR EL CERRITO MEMBERS OF WILDCAT FIREWISE. NONE ARE CURRENTY PLANNED!! THEREFORE...READ THE PROCEDURES (SEE LINK BELOW) AND CONSIDER PRACTICING WALKING AND DRIVING ROUTES WITH YOUR FAMILY.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Our makeshift emergency evacuation routes are NOT intended to be a substitute for official community warnings and procedures! Make sure you are subscribed to CWS and alert to other community information about alerts and warnings.
