VOLTA Resident Application Process

Website Application

The starting point for all startups interested in Catalyst for Growth Residency is to apply through the website at . In the event that a VOLTA team member has already spoken or communicated with the team, they should be directing them to apply on the website to start our internal process.

Qualifying

In this phase we review the application details to ensure that they meet the . If there is any question that the applicant is not a fit, the Application Lead is to reach out and collect the information needed to confirm. Email or discussion is at the discretion of the Application Lead. Once information is collected, the Application Lead is responsible for creating a “Related Application Review” and adding their notes in the Qualification notes section.

Action Checklist:
Application Lead reviews the application for ISP requirements
Reach out to the applicant for additional information if needed
Create a "Related Application Review" with qualification notes

Qualified

Once the application has been reviewed and is deemed qualified by the Application Lead, the application can be put into Qualified status by the Application Lead. This status can be used if there is a backlog of applications and the applicant is qualified but not yet invited to interview. Notes should be added in the Qualification Notes section of the Application Review to provide details as needed.

Invited to Interview

This status is used when the Application Lead has reached out or is in the process of coordinating the interview meeting.

Application Lead initiates contact to schedule an interview
Coordinate interview timing and logistics

Interview Scheduled

This status is used to communicate that we have scheduled a time for the interview but it is set for a date in the future. When put in this stage, the Application lead should have confirmed the VOLTA team that will be conducting the interview and have it confirmed in everyone’s schedule.

Action Checklist:
Confirm interview time and date
Identify VOLTA team members to conduct the interview
Add the interview to everyone's schedule
Confirm participants accepted meeting request
Book appropriate resources (Virtual via zoom or In Person)

Interview

During the interview phase, the applicant meets with the VOLTA team to discuss their startup in more detail. The interview provides an opportunity for both parties to explore the potential fit and clarify any questions or concerns. This phase is essential to evaluate the applicant's suitability for the Catalyst or Growth Residency and ultimately determine if they will be approved for support, contingent on the successful completion of due diligence. Interview notes need to be added to Application Review to provide clarity around information collected in the interview.

Residency Acceptance Decision

Approved
This status is used when the Chief Innovation Officer has made the decision to accept the startup for support contingent on Due Diligence being completed successfully. The application lead is responsible for
updating the status of the application and initiating the Due Diligence process.

Application Lead initiates the Due Diligence process
Not Approved
In the event that a startup is not approved for residency, the application status is updated to "Not Approved" within the VOLTA CRM (Airtable) Application. Chief Innovation Officer is responsible for documenting the reasons for the decision in the Application Review associated with the application, ensuring transparency and providing valuable insights for future reference. This feedback must also be communicated to the applicant by the Application Lead, offering them an understanding of the areas where they may need to improve or adjust their approach, which can be beneficial for their growth and development.

Update the application status to "Not Approved"
Document the reasons for the decision in the Application Kanban Board
Application Lead to communicate feedback to the applicant
Application Lead confirms acceptance of residency from the startup
