Setting up your SaaS automation tool with your Microsoft account is a straightforward process, involving the Azure portal, a crucial component of Microsoft's cloud services.
To ensure successful setup and seamless interaction between the tool and your Microsoft services, you need to input certain key details—your Client ID, Tenant ID, Client Secret, and Microsoft Admin Name. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to assist you in locating these details.
By following these steps, you'll be able to configure your Microsoft account correctly with your SaaS automation tool and unlock its full potential.
Step 1: Open the Azure portal
Navigate to the Azure portal by typing "portal.azure.com" in your web browser. Log in using your Microsoft account credentials.
Step 2: Register your application to get your Client ID
In the left-hand menu, select "Azure Active Directory".
Under "Manage" in the Azure Active Directory blade, select "App registrations".
Click on "New registration" to register your application.
Enter a suitable name for your application, select the appropriate supported account types, and enter your Redirect URI (if applicable).
After providing the required details, click on "Register". You'll be redirected to your application's overview page.
In the overview page, you'll see the Application (client) ID - this is your Client ID. You can copy it and keep it for later use.
Step 3: Find your Tenant ID
While you're in the "App registrations" page, in the Overview section, you can also find the Directory (tenant) ID - this is your Tenant ID.
Like the Client ID, you can copy the Tenant ID for later use.
Step 4: Generate your Client Secret
From the "App registrations" page, select your registered application.
In the menu, click on "Certificates & secrets".
Click on "New client secret".
Enter a description for the client secret, select the duration for the secret, then click "Add".
After you click "Add", the value of the client secret will appear. Make sure you copy it and store it securely - you won't be able to see it again once you leave the page. This is your Client Secret.
Step 5: Find your Microsoft Admin Name
The Microsoft Admin Name is generally the username that the admin uses to log in to the Microsoft account. In a business setting, this is typically your work email. If you're the admin, it's the email you use to log in to your Microsoft 365 Admin Center. You can check this by:
Going to "admin.microsoft.com".
Your username is displayed on the top right of the screen.
Make sure to securely store all these details, especially the Client Secret, as they are sensitive information related to your application and can allow someone access to your resources.
