1. Media Audio

A Media Placeholder should be muted in most cases, unless you are creating a template where you specifically want the user’s uploaded video to be heard.
When you add a Media Placeholder in the make sure it’s set to mute in the toolbar. (The speaker icon should have a diagonal line across it).

2. Media Fit/Zoom

A Media Placeholder should be set to Zoom, in most cases. Uncheck this box only if you are creating a template where you specifically want the uploaded video to fit instead.

In the Author Mode, select the Media and set the Media Type to Zoom and set Type to Media.

3. Media Duration

Media Placeholder Layer (FootageItem) should have the duration that is the same as the time when it’s visible in the video.
This is done so that we can tell the users which is the correct runtime for a given video placeholder.
For example, if we see the media placeholder in the video from the 5th second till the 13th second, your footageItem should be 8 seconds long.
If your comp is 8 seconds long but the layer footageItem longer, you’ll need to cut/rerender the video so the footageItem is 8 seconds long.

4. Media In/Out Points

In the Media Placeholder comp, your footageItem must be the same length as the comp.
It must have the same in and out points.
To do this you can use the script from .
The script will rerender the entire comp and import the new video inside the comp.

5. Media Video Format

If you are not using from and you want to render out the video yourself please use the following format and codec:
mp4 - h264
