How to combine 2 activities from a Garmin device


Did you accidentally end a fitness activity on your Garmin device and have to start a new one, hence generating 2 separate activities for what is actually a single activity? What a nuisance! Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us, but there is a solution! Follow the steps below to turn multiple activities into a single one.
Although these steps are for a Garmin device and Garmin Connect, you can follow steps 9 - 14 to combine multiple FIT, GPX, CSV or TCX files from any device or app and replace steps 15 - 18 with any site or app that allows for the manual import of a FIT, GPX, CSV or TCX file (Strava, etc.).


Step 1: Make sure your activities are
Step 3: Find one of the activities you want to combine
Step 4: Select the name of the activity to go to the activity screen
Step 5: Select the gear icon in the upper right to show the dropdown menu
Step 6: Select "Export Original" to download a ZIP file of that activity
Step 7: Unzip the ZIP file to expose the FIT file for the activity
Step 8: Repeat Steps 2 - 7 for each activity you want to combine
Step 10: Select "Choose Files"
Step 11: Select all of the activity FIT files you want to combine
Step 12: Select the Time Zone you were in when those activities were recorded
Step 13: Select the "Upload" button
Step 14: Download the resulting activity FIT file
Step 16: Select "Import" in the upper right
Step 17: Select "Browse" to select the combined activity FIT file or drag it to the "Drop files" area
Step 18: Select the "Import Data" button
