Team

Goal

Development of acne scar (atrophic) healing treatment with improved efficacy in Scar treatment and prevention compared to existing market prescription comparisons.

Target Products - Prioritized
[Acne] OTC Acne Treatment (Strong/Sensitive) (IL1B, IL17)
[Acne] Scar Prevention Moisturizer (1L1B, IL17, MMP2)
[Acne] Compounded Tretinoin Treatment (IL1B, IL17)
[Color] Scar Healing Primer

Requirements

Efficacy - Comparable efficacy (Matching efficacy as measured by lesion count improvement after 8 and 12 weeks) to Compound Tretinoin 0.025 efficacy, focused on three main endpoints. Molecule discovery and prioritization should focus on all three.
Reactive (Corrective) improvement of existing atrophic scars
Prevention of new acne scars formation:
Normalized tissue formation / matrix remodeling / deposition of collagen
Inflammation reduction for active inflammatory lesions (papules, pustules, and nodules)
Normalized inflammatory response
Tolerability - Tolerable by sensitive skin
Prevention / inflammation reduction candidate molecules:
Cannot cause or exacerbate further inflammation
Must be less sensitizing (dryness, redness) than Retinol

Formulation Constraints - Ability to be formulated with/in:
Silicone - For usage with Primer / Scar filling formulations
Range of pH systems (3.5 - 6.5) - For eventual usage in OTC product line w/ Salicylic acid as well as pH-balanced moisturizers
Salicylic acid - Does not lead to crystallization / degradation of SA specifically
