We did not establish SHAILA as another theory project, but as a living ecosystem. For us, AI is not an end in itself but the lever to scale human, precise, and effective supply.
In this space, we dissolve the boundaries between clinic, research, and technology. Our goal is not a cookie-cutter business plan but a direct bridge: From vision to healthcare value.
Every two weeks, we curate the essentials for you:
Relevance: What truly changes daily clinical work?
Transfer: How do we bring Collective Intelligence into practice?
Evolution: Smart learning offerings for today’s healthcare pioneers.
We are glad you are part of this journey. Let’s shape the evolution together.
1 | Lab Update
Focus: Curiosity as a cognitive lever In our work at the SHAILA Lab, we are driven by a central question: How do we scale knowledge in a system that is under time pressure? The answer lies not in more data but in a psychological driver: Curiosity.
Science supports us: Curiosity is not a “soft skill” but a measurable performance factor. Meta-analyses show that curiosity—paired with conscientiousness—significantly boosts learning performance, comparable to traditional cognitive intelligence. Curiosity is the “intelligence boost” we need for digital transformation.
What this means for SHAILA:
The engine: Almost 50% of learners identify curiosity as their strongest intrinsic motivation—far ahead of external pressure.
The formula: Intelligence + conscientiousness + curiosity explain a quarter of all performance differences.
Our mission: We cultivate curiosity as a foundational pillar of our Community of Practice.
Deep Dive & Tool: How do we break down knowledge silos through questions? We have developed a Rapid Learning model for this.
2 | Lab Experiments
Who is building the future of healthcare? Work will not decrease in the age of AI; it will radically change its form. The Zukunftsinstitut has defined four roles for 2026 that will be central for modern employers. We at SHAILA see this as a blueprint for what we want to establish together in hospitals:
Augmentation Architects: Become the designer of high-performance teams where humans and AI do not just add their strengths but multiply them.
Ecosystem Orchestrators: We are moving away from rigid organizational charts. The future belongs to living networks that breathe on platforms—this is where SHAILA comes in.
Human Companions: Technology needs empathy. This role supports employees “in transition” on their individual life paths.
Resonance Curators: You shape a community of values that acts in a value-creating and ecologically sustainable manner.
We value your opinion: Which of these roles do you already feel most strongly in your clinical daily life? Or is there a dimension missing? We are collecting your input for our next community webinar on “New Work in Smart Health.”
3 | News from the community
Community Focus: The heart of collective intelligence SHAILA is more than a platform—it is a living knowledge space. We do not believe in isolated geniuses but in the power of connected expertise. Here, clinical experience, research spirit, and technological curiosity come together.
What to expect in this space:
Synergies: Present projects, seek sparring partners, or find participants for your next study.
Curation: Our lab team ensures quality and relevance—we filter out the noise so that the essence becomes visible.
Augmentation: We do not use AI to replace conversation but to accelerate it. Through data-based connections, we create inspirations that could never have emerged in classical silos.
Looking ahead: We are still at the beginning of this movement. In upcoming issues, we will share “real-time fragments”: anonymized impulses, burning questions, and concrete solutions directly from your ranks. This way, SHAILA becomes the cell of a new, collective healthcare intelligence.
Follow SHAILA: The future of research does not begin in the lab but in collaboration.
4 | SHAILA Sandbox
The 2-Minute Perspective Shift:
Have you “thought outside the box” today? In the sandbox, we serve you a micro-hack in every issue to momentarily switch off the autopilot in your mind.
The Experiment: The “Wait-a-Minute” Prompter Often, we get stuck in technical terms that confuse rather than connect patients or colleagues. Today, use an AI (or your own “internal processor”) for this quick test:
Choose a term you use often today (e.g., “interdisciplinary case management” or “postoperative mobilization”).
The hack: Imagine you have to explain this term to an 8-year-old or a non-expert at dinner.
The challenge: Find an image that describes the benefit, not the process.
Instead of: “We optimize patient flow.” New: “We build a green wave for your recovery.”
Why it works: This short “nudge” trains your ability for resonance curating (remember the Lab Experiment?). It breaks the technical silo and creates an immediate connection.
Your immediate success: Try this new formulation in your next conversation or email draft. Watch your conversation partner's eyes: Do they light up for a moment? Then curiosity has won.
Closing
SHAILA connects and unfolds. With the SHAILAletter, we send a compact signal directly to your network every two weeks. Our goal: to trigger multidisciplinary resonance in healthcare—between data, learning, and real competence.
For SHAILAtastic aha moments, co-construction, and the necessary spark of humor.
Thank you for helping shape the evolution.
Warm regards, Thomas, Ainara **&** Maurice
