Introduction
When we began brainstorming ideas that would fit the course’s theme of “finding your voice”, we wanted to focus on a project that could illuminate the voice that individuals want to find and project out to the world. Originally, we thought about giving the public a chance to share their voice but felt as though this would generate so much information that it would just become noise and difficult to decipher or draw conclusions from. So instead, we came up with our Voices Through Music project. Our vision for this project is one that illuminates the voices of musicians from across genres and dives deep into what they are trying to say through their songs. These individuals found their voice by writing songs and it is fascinating to more deeply examine their emotions and statements through their lyrics and music.
