Healing a Wounded Heart

With a pen and journal in hand, answer the following questions and jot down any names that come to mind during this exercise. When you’re finished, review each name. Ask yourself, “Is this a person I need to forgive, or is this a person from whom I need to ask forgiveness?”
Notice the quality of these questions. Too many people ask unconstructive questions, such as, “What’s wrong? Why is this happening to me?” Remember, the quality of your answers is determined by the quality of your questions. Ask quality questions—questions that make you think—and you’ll get quality answers.
Here is a list of questions you may ask yourself:
What one decision would I make if I knew it would not fail?
What one thing should I eliminate from my life because it holds me back from reaching my full potential?
Am I on the path to something absolutely fantastic or something absolutely average?
Am I running from something?
How can I use my time better?
What impossible thing am I believing and planning for?
What is my most prevailing thought?
What good thing have I committed myself to do that I’ve quit doing?
Of the people I respect the most, what is it about them that earns my respect?
What would a truly creative person do in my situation?
What outside influences are causing me to be better? Worse?
What gifts, talents, or strengths do I have?
I know I don’t have the answer right now, but if I knew the answer, what would I say?
What is one thing I can do for someone else who has no opportunity torepay me?
Who do I need to forgive?
From whom do I need to ask forgiveness?
