Dual Eclipse
Every 54 years, two moons (blue and magenta) intersect in a three-day lunar eclipse
during that time, the forest terrain changes:
the entire area is sealed of from the outside world
essence goes haywire (old trees just die, peaceful animals go amok, essence just fluctuates)
the Lunar Spirits come out and to play/ getting into mischief
also referred to as Time Eclipse
“The two moons represent the positive and negative flows of time. The fact that time affects the flor of essence is what causes the creatures of the forest to change.” — Quincy
This is mostly forgotten nowadays

Kleinmas
Wintertime Ceremony
holy ceremony held by the king in conjunction with the church
used to be hosted for royals, it’s now a public ceremony
‘Holy Arks’ are decorated: boats that are decorated most creatively, every year new trends appear
The sacred scriptures tell of how the Five Sons of the God of Klein descended to the world upon the Holy Ark, dispelling the darkness that covered the Klein Continent.
During the last month of the year, the rivers freeze over, and so the people would use the time to fix up their boats. This month soon came to be known as Kleinmas. Once they’d finish with the repairs, they’d decorate their boats and fill them with gifts to exchange… All to pray for the blessings of the Five Sons for the coming year.
Items that are no longer needed are wrapped up as gifts and placed on the holy arks to receive the God of Klein’s blessing.
During the Wintertime Ceremony, the gifts are exchanged.
The custom started as a winter clearout, the receiver didn’t always had to give something back either

Night Crane
A mist enshrouded bird. Light Territory
believes who sees the bird never sees their family again. One must never touch the feathers of it
Water Territory
the Night Crane is a legendary creature with a transparent body that moves through the air like mist
due to how long it sleeps, it appears only once every few decades
sightings extremely rare
it chooses a person who is on the verge of death and leaves them one of its feathers.
When winter ends, that person turns to mist and is transported to another world
to prevent this, you need to drink some warming winter soup
Dead Zone
it grabs humans in its claws and takes it back to its nest
picks out their hearts there or intestines
In reality, the crane tries to save people and provide essence. Sometimes, it’s too late, though, which led to the myth surrounding death and kidnapping.

Birthday Traditions
Light Territory
a tradition is to give children cupcakes with food they dislike:
If you chop up a few of the birthday boy or girl’s most hated vegetables and add then to their cupcakes, if they can finish all their birthday cupcakes, they’ll be able to overcome any hardships they meet in the coming year
This tradition has changed to more agreeable ingredients over time, most often raisins are used
Wood Territory
Evergreen Talisman, made from evergreen vines:
collect one vine each day for 10 days and on tenth day, weave it into a talisman
finish of with decorative leaves and flowers, the more decorations, the greater the blessings
Anyone who receives such a talisman, must spent the night in the forest, unarmed and alone. If the receiver comes out unscathed, it means he’s received the forest’s graces (this part of the tradition has fallen out of use)
many tribesmen have got lost in the deep forest looking for those vines
Water Territory
give blessed stars to the birthday child (Lucky Birthday Stars)
originally made out of fabric, but these days usually glass containers
The recipient often hangs them on front door for good luck
Legend says the god of Klein illuminated the stars when the five elements were born
Fire Territory
great beasts are hunted down to express gratitude for the sun’s blessings
Highest grade cut of meat is paired with wine and offered to the sun
remaining meat is split: one half goes to close friends, the other half is a sacrifice for Solaris (common folk aren’t required to make offerings)
Other Continent
Candles as tall as the birthday child are lit. They have multi-coloured flames and sing songs (according to Blade)
Huge balls are held
