INTRODUCING SHARE VENTURES - A VENTURE STUDIO REIMAGINING HOW WE LIVE AND WORK
LOS ANGELES — July 28, 2020 — Share Ventures today announced the formation of a venture studio focused on creating solutions that will reimagine the way we live and work. Located in Los Angeles, the studio will be led by Hamet Watt and has raised $10 million from venture capital firms including Upfront Ventures and Alpha Edison and with participation from Irongrey, Jon Callaghan and Phil Black of True Ventures, Ed Mathias the founder of The Carlyle Group, Ahmed Al Mosa from The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Art Coppolla the former CEO of Macerich and various family offices.
Share Ventures is a venture studio building the infrastructure to repeatedly discover, validate, and scale new companies. Share fuels efforts across new ventures with tools, tactics, and teams including a deep bench of talent across disciplines such as design, neuroscience, engineering, artificial intelligence, and growth.
“We are living in a time of great upheaval which heightens the importance of the challenges that we pursue,” said Hamet Watt, Chief Executive Officer of Share Ventures. “There is a great deal of diverse talent that is in search of a new company building model and I’m inspired by the high-performing, mission-aligned people joining at every level.”
Share Ventures was founded by Hamet Watt, an entrepreneur, investor, and active member of the venture capital community. He is currently a Board Partner at Upfront Ventures and Senior Advisor to BCG Digital Ventures. Watt served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at True Ventures, co-founded various companies including NextMedium, bLife, and MoviePass.
"I have worked closely with Hamet for more than a decade. He embodies everything I truly love about startups and venture. He's blessed with the ability to dream up ideas and see the future, he's inspirational enough to attract extremely talented resources and he's driven enough to see projects to fruition," said Mark Suster, managing partner at Upfront Ventures. "When Hamet joined Upfront, he told me that he liked venture capital but still wanted to launch companies so providing him with capital to do that was a no-brainer. I can't think of a better person to be launching new startups alongside people of color in this entire industry. This will be Hamet's decade."
