In 2004 I put together the Standard Operation Procedure for the Machine Gun Platoon I led in the Marines and updated it over the years as our mission set evolved. There aren’t any national secrets in here — these were the foundational elements that guided our tactical operations. Our job as leaders was to build muscle memory so our Marines could operate independently and react without hesitation when communications went down, as they often did.
