Opportunity Automating Naming
What is automatic naming?
Salesforce requires a “Name” field on all records. For consistency sake, NPSP offers automatic naming for Households and Opportunities. This makes data entry easier as well. When creating an Opportunity, users must be trained to put something in the Opportunity Name field because it is required. However, if turned on the Opportunity with automatically rename itself upon Save.
The Opportunity Name field can be set automatically by clicking on Donations → Opportunity Names in the left-hand menu.
Different automatic names can be chosen for different record types
The Opportunity Name Formats you can choose from include:
Example: {!Contact Name} {!RecordType.Name} {!CloseDate} {!Campaign.Name}
