Some people live in two different places. Like geese they fly south for the winter. Perhaps you have their home address and business address. To account for this NPSP has the Address object. Here are the things to remember:
1) By default, an Address record is always created when Billing Address is filled in on the Account
2) If the Billing Address is changed on the Account the following happens:
i) A new address record is created
ii) The default checkbox is selected for the new record.
iii) The start date field of the new address is filled in with date you change it
iv) The old address end date is filled in with the date that you changed it
3) By default the address table is only available for Accounts with the Household Account Record Type. To allow this function for Organizations it must be enabled in NPSP Settings. You can also disable Household Account Addresses in NPSP Settings. You can decide which you prefer in
4) Address records capture more information about location than the standard address including:
County Name
Congressional
Seasonal Start Month
Seasonal Start Day
Seasonal End Month
Seasonal End Day

General Address Settings
Address settings allow you to choose from the following:
Disable Household Account Addresses - By default it is enabled
Enable Organization Account Addresses - By default it is disabled
Simple Address Change Treated as Update -If this box is unchecked, an address record is created every time an address is changed, even if just a typo. Checking this box allows you to not have a simple change automatically create a new address record in the address object.
