Mycelium growing on steel
This mattock has live mycelium growing on the steel, so the question is how does it get nutrients?
Apparently all steel contains carbon, between 0.02% and 2.1%.
Is the mycelium extracting carbon from the steel?
A couple months later the mycelium thickens and moves on to the plastic handle! (see last image)
