Who is eligible to apply for this program? Graduate or Post-graduate students in Data Science, Machine Learning, or related fields.
Technical Skills:
What programming languages/tools should I use? Please use Python with libraries like pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow/PyTorch (depending on your chosen model).
What level of Python experience is required? We expect a strong foundation in Python programming. Familiarity with data manipulation libraries (pandas) and numerical computing libraries (NumPy) is preferred.
Do I need prior experience with machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch)? While experience is a plus, it's not mandatory.
The Challenge:
Is the synthetic data similar to real-world credit risk data? The synthetic data will closely mimic the structure and characteristics of real credit risk data, ensuring the challenge reflects real-world applications.
Will there be any guidance on feature engineering? We encourage you to explore and identify the most impactful features for your model.
Can I use any machine learning model for the challenge? We encourage you to explore different algorithms suitable for classification tasks.
The Internship Program:
What is the expected duration of the internship? The internship program is 10 weeks long.
Will the internship be remote or on-site? We offer flexible internship options, including remote work or a combination of remote and on-site work (depending on your location and preferences).
What are the career opportunities at Synapse Labs after the internship? Synapse Labs is constantly looking for talented individuals. If you impress us during the internship, you might be offered a full-time position upon graduation.
Application Process:
What are the deadlines for applying? We encourage you to apply early as applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until positions are filled.
What are the selection criteria? We evaluate applications based on your academic background, relevant coursework, programming skills, and problem-solving abilities. A strong interest in data science and machine learning is a plus.
What should I include in my application? Your application should include a resume or CV, a cover letter outlining your interest in the program and relevant skills, and any transcripts you're comfortable sharing. The most important aspect however is a successful solution to the Credit Risk Assessment Design Challenge.
General:
Is this internship program open to international students? Yes, the internship program is open to international students as long as you can meet eligibility requirements for working in the US (if applicable to your chosen work style).
Can I get academic credit for participating in the internship? You should check with your academic institution to see if they offer academic credit for internship programs. We can provide you with a letter of confirmation upon your acceptance into the program.
