Social media is useful to share news and information to a wider audience — but many of the more popular platforms control and limit the reach of your posts, as dictated by their algorithms (and owners).
Some alternatives to the big-tech offerings are:

Bluesky

users can share short posts containing text, images, and videos. It is owned and currently controlled by Bluesky Social PBC, a based in the United States.

Mastodon

users can share short posts similar to but is and supports independent instances. It is maintained by a European non-profit organization. Mastodon uses community-based moderation.

Openvibe

is a mobile app that connects to Mastodon, Bluesky, Nostr (and Threads) — enabling you to post to, and read from, multiple services at the same time.
