Workshop 1

Part 1: Workshop 1
Observation and Idea: In a group of at least 5 students, begin by refining your ideas about user needs, experience, flexibility, social spaces, topography, accessibility and sustainability in creating new nodes at one point of IUKL’s academic precinct
Analysis: Conduct a quick analysis. Consider the following aspects:
Identified urban elements, current issues and possible way to respond to them.
Possible use of materials, colour and texture to enhance sense of place.
Strategy to create social and communal spaces.
Adding environmental sustainability features
User experience and adaptability
Urban Design Framework: Based on Observation and Ideas, develop a Design Framework for the design.
Synthesis: Based on the framework and your analysis, design the urban elements for your respective nodes area.
Inter Group Collaboration: There are a few items that the groups need to agree upon.
Layout of the parking and walkway as well as micro mobile paths
Standard design of the covered walkway
Standard colour scheme for the project
Construction of a physical model for the project (1:500)
