Abstract

HBIM is a new field area in Southeast Asia (SEA), this is a connotation that BIM is new as well in this part of the world. Most of the academic research done on HBIM in SEA is mostly about recording historical buildings using laser scanners and 3D modelling using various technology as a way of capturing the conservation artifacts including historical buildings. It should be realised that HBIM needs to be done based on the objectives of the HBIM’s initiative itself and the level of details need to be adjusted based on future steps in conserving the heritage building. Another point that needs to be made is that BIM is not about 3D modelling but the tools and processes that allow us to communicate and share information about projects. Any appropriate application can be utilised for this purpose but the concept of HBIM needs to be understood by various stakeholders. This workshop is to enlighten the student that BIM is beyond 3D modelling and highly demanded for conservation initatives in future.

Introduction

HBIM is a record of data towards integration within Information Systems in Building Conservation process.
The data recorded helps us in studying the building’s current state and make informed decisions in future.
