Summary

Otermans Institute is a global education and upskilling firm that provides support to underserved and unserved learners. They are technologically driven and work primarily with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support learners globally - particularly by creating digital human teachers using state-of-the-art conversational AI. This role is for an immediate/May start and is currently virtual/remote.

Skills Required

The ideal AI/ ML Developer will have the following:
Work with the latest open-source technology to design and build ML outcomes
Be designing, developing, and maintaining new features to further improve our products
Work on multiple ML-based applications ranging from (at least 3) Conversational bots, Motion Graphics, Deep fakes, Data engineering, and human-like AI solutions
Work in a role that adapts alongside the business needs
Be exposed to a variety of data science and engineering projects
Apply latest techniques in data science and ML Writing code in JavaScript, Typescript modules and APIs
Developing and maintaining Python automation toolsets and databases
Experience in programming alongside modern frontend frameworks (React, Next, etc.) for developing client-side code
Ability to code to standards and share best practices with the team
Unit and integration testing
Focus on performance optimisation, quality automation, and shared cluster metrics
Understanding toolsets including: React/Next (Frontend), PostgreSQL/MongoDB (Database), Python and Node (Backend), YAML Pipelines (CICD)
Have a demonstrable experience in software development for high-traffic and availability websites
Experience in working with an agile team and environment
Research-based problem solving
Able to make and work with APIs

Other beneficial but not essential skills

Knowledge of DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure, and/or
Knowledge of QA
Be able to model conversational AI models using both supervised and unsupervised approaches

Role

You will work to solve real-world problems and on production-level outputs. You will learn key engineering techniques on the job, code in tandem with team members, work in defined sprints run by senior management and learn key communication and transferable skills needed for high-level tech roles.

Post completion

A minimum of one candidate will be taken in as a full-time engineer with scope for future work from our London office after becoming a permanent member of staff. The probation period is 4-months.

Recruitment Process

Please note that the interview process for this role will begin on May 1st, following 3 stages:
Stage 1: video interview with a member of our marketing team @ Otermans Institute
Stage 2: Pair programming with one of our developers to test your technical competency.
Stage 3: final interview with senior management
