Subject: Let me explain..
Hi ______,
I mailed you a week or so ago with an official VDAB/IBO mailshot wondering if you were interested in adding an IT problem solver to your team.
It may seem strange that a would-be IT professional would contact a jewellery designer directly for potential employment, but there is method in the madness. I thought I’d follow up with a more personal mail to explain.
I am an older jobseeker who retrained in IT around two years ago and has been coding ever since. I came from a design background (metalwork and jewellery) and that is part of my reason for contacting you.
From my time running my own business, and speaking to small business owners, I found that they often have problem areas within their back of house processes. I consider these problems to be just small, unrealised IT projects. Then beyond solving these irritations there are often opportunities for saving you and your staff time with the simplification and automation of repetitive processes. What could you do with the time saved?
Maybe it’s time to realise some of the creative possibilities that you’ve had on hold. How about enhancing your customer’s experience even more? We could make them even better advertisers for your business than they already are.
I’d love to have the opportunity to talk about my ideas with you in person, but first, what is my motivation? Frankly, I am looking to work for pleasant people in a pleasant work environment within the Antwerp area. Beyond this my portfolio, and programming credentials will be enhanced with real IT projects involving real client requirements.
But, if I am happy where I am who knows if that will even matter.
If you think there may be an opportunity for me within your organisation, lets talk. I’m local so reply to me with a couple of appointment options, and we’ll take it from there.
Otherwise, have a nice day!
My best regards,
Graham
