LISTING CURRENT ISSUES WITH FILTER SCENARIOS
1) Low Coverage/Quality of Prominent Filters Label-Value pairs in HVF
Need to increase the coverage of HVF, add more relevant Filters (For eg Satin Pillows, King Size Pillows, Decorative Pillows etc) There are examples where the main HVFs (like Gold Coins, Meesho Mall, Top Rated etc) are missing. Need to improve coverage of such categories as well. A quality check needs to be done for the existing HVFs being shown. (For eg, when searching for Pillow Covers, showing “Pillow Covers” again as a HVF does not make sense. For some cases, no HVFs are being shown. 2) Deduplication of Filter Values Needs to be Done
It seems for a Filter label, similar filter values are being shown (Pack of 1 vs Single) The values need to be normalised into one entity and then shown 3) Filter Labels with just one Value needs to be Removed
If there is only one value present as part of Label then no need to show it as a Filter 4) Update Ordering of Filter Labels
The ordering of the Filter Labels needs to be updated on the basis of User/Category so that relevant Filter labels are shown at top 5) Not all attributes of a Product are shown as part of Filters
For a Category like “Shirts”, the Catalog listed has “Pattern” listed as Solid or Printed, but the Filter label “Pattern” does not have these values. The users are thus not informed of all possible patterns present in the results.
6) The Ordering of Sort Labels needs to Dynamic
Depending on the Category, this List should be dynamically ordered
7) Add More IF
Discover more filter labels which are suited to be shown as IF After every N Catalog, we can add more such IFs to increase User Engagement and improve relevancy in product search
Key issues -
Low coverage/quality of prominent filters label-value pairs in HVF Lack of other relevant Filters (For eg Satin Pillows, King Size Pillows, Decorative Pillows etc) Category name presence which is redundant Usability - HVFs are not sticky After every N Catalog, we need to add more IFs to improve user engagement / relevancy in product search Manual mapping of attributes to filter definitions leading to - Deduplication of filter values Not all attributes part of filters For a Category like “Shirts”, the Catalog listed has “Pattern” listed as Solid or Printed, but the Filter label “Pattern” does not have these values. Other example is size filter values across feed The users are thus not informed of all possible patterns present in the results Incorrect ordering of Filter Labels The ordering of the Filter Labels needs to be updated on the basis of User/Category so that relevant Filter labels are shown at top Tech bugs / Implementation issues leading to attribute updates not getting persisted in Marvel / Updated properties not overwritten in the app serving layer Filter Labels with just one Value Random ordering of filter labels - Needs to be setup basis Absence of all relevant filter labels Neck type, Sleeve length etc missing for shirt searches Attributes present in the backend though -
Static sorting of sort options - Lack of unified feed architecture to push feed X user relevant intent channelisation components (i.e IFs /HVFs / FIFs) at a consistent vertical catalog gap index - Blocker to effectively scale IF and FIF / At future introduce other horizontal IC components
