Identify examples and pay attention to what they are examples of. Use this thought process to help you clarify both:
The point that is trying to be made / the thing that is trying to be demonstrated
How to read the example in its proper context
Have an internal dialogue. Actively tell yourself what things mean and how important ideas are defined
Identify contrasts when they are not the main point of contention or argument of the passage. For example:
Review PT 52 passage 3. Note where they compare and contrast evolutionary game theory.
In PT 61 passage 4, note in paragraph 2 the discussion of the debate around emigrationist sentiment. This isn’t the main debate, but any time there is some kind of debate, that should be a signal to pay more attention. Note that there are at least 2 questions that refer to this section of the passage of PT 61. How does that debate play a role in the overall argument of the passage?
Piece together definitions and information over the course of the whole RC passage
“Zoom out and zoom in.” Focus on the details, while also trying to relate those details to the rest of the passage.
At this stage, work more on accuracy rather than timing, but once you feel like you’re getting the hang of looking for the right information and structuring the passage, start incorporating timed practice and mix timed/ untimed practice
