INTRODUCION

Deforestation is one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time, with significant implications for biodiversity, climate change, and human livelihoods. Understanding the extent and trends of deforestation is crucial for developing effective conservation strategies and policies. This project aims to analyze global deforestation trends from 1990 to 2016 using a comprehensive dataset that includes forest area, land area, and regional information.
The project is divided into three main parts:
Global Situation: This section provides an overview of the global forest area in 1990 and 2016, the change in forest area over this period, and the percent change. It also compares the amount of forest area lost to the total area of a specific country in 2016.
Regional Outlook: This section examines the percent forest area by region in 1990 and 2016, identifying regions with the highest and lowest forest coverage. It also highlights regions that experienced a decrease in forest area over the 26-year period.
Country-Level Detail: This section delves into the specifics of deforestation at the country level, identifying the top five countries with the largest decrease in forest area and the largest percent decrease. It also compares the forestation percentage of various countries to that of the United States in 2016.
By analyzing these aspects, this project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of deforestation trends and their implications, offering valuable insights for policymakers, environmentalists, and the general public.
The project is structured into several key sections:
Create & Insert: This section involves setting up the database and tables, and inserting the relevant data for analysis.
Questions & Answer: Here, we address specific questions related to global deforestation trends, regional outlooks, and country-level details.
Python: This part includes any Python scripts used for data processing or analysis.
Metabase: Visualization and dashboard creation using Metabase to present the findings.
Tableau: Advanced data visualization and interactive dashboards created with Tableau.
Power BI & Excel: Data analysis and reporting using Power BI and Excel for additional insights.
TEAM: Information about the team members involved in the project.
