Mindjoy Vision

Mission

Empower young people with technology to build their futures where humanity flourishes.
We connect young people ages 8+ with peers and projects that harness their passions and accelerate their potential to expression and make things. We enable learning real skills through creating real-world projects (such as creating art, exploring data, building games and creating with AI) where kids also learn real programming languages such as Python.
Mindjoy exists for the curious kids, the ambitious kids, the kids who defy expectations - the kids who dare to do hard things and call it fun. They exist for the kids who learn by doing, for coaches who are committed to the 'Aha!' moments, and for those willing to re-imagine what education could be.

Values

💥 Hard Fun

Struggle is not a bad thing. In fact if things are too easy we don’t actually learn. We like to create challenge based settings and ensure kids remain in the sweet spot where things are not too easy, not hard but just right (also known as the Zone of Proximal Development). We encourage students to work independently through challenge, creating the opportunity to develop the confidence in their own capacity to solve problems.

🧐 Curiosity

We seek to deeply understand and young people and ourselves. We leverage insights, research, and experience to create content, products, services, and experiences that are trusted and loved by parents, students and educators but also create profound experiences all people involved in Mindjoy develop life long capacities. Everything we do should make young people (and us) feel inspired.
Through being curios we seek perspectives to improve ideas, seek patterns and connections that other people miss and understand customers and teams changing tastes and desires.

💡 Be soft on people, but hard on Ideas

We embrace a diversity of voices, perspectives and life experiences leading to stronger, more inclusive teams and better outcomes. As individuals, we commit to bringing up tough topics and leaning into different points of view with curiosity. We avoid judging people, instead we are rigorous about thinking processes and ideas.
We listen, learn and collaborate to gain a shared understanding.
When a decision is made, we commit to moving forward as a united team always remembering that feedback is information, not judgement, we don’t always have to agree but we always treat each other with respect.

🎯 Choose Executional Excellence

We make tough decisions without agonising or long delay, we have a bias towards action. We prioritise taking informed risks and are open to possible failure. We take ownership of putting in the time to make good decisions and set realistic timelines that focus on short term execution that also links to the bigger picture.
We want to work towards continuous improvement and raise the bar as we learn to develop and deliver a world class product.

👐Default to Open

We have an open communication and documentation culture – what we’ve called our #DefaultoOpen mentality. We don’t keep anything private, except sensitive information. We believe that the best way to make progress is to share openly so that there can be collective input on problem solving and less time spent on explaining context. Operating within an organised environment, we share openly, knowing that the right people, in the right context, will be able to join or observe any conversation.

💪Take a stand

We have conviction in our aspirational point of view of how education will evolve. The work we do is in service to moving towards that point of view. However, we also listen, learn and flex in the face of new data, and commit to evolving this point of view as the industry and our customers evolve.
