Company Background what’s Poppin?

Poppin is a fast-growing social-media startup with over 100,000 downloads, 10k weekly active users, currently expanding across colleges in California boosted by a $2M seed round and investors such as Pear VC, Liquid 2 Ventures, and others.

Approximately 10,000 college students across UCLA, UC Davis, Irvine, UCSD, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Berkeley use Poppin to see what parties are happening at their school that week, who’s throwing, and who else is going so far.

Like Instagram but parties instead of posts and RSVPs instead of likes, Poppin is aiming to be the next big social-media app and based on IRL>URL.

Patch up bugs & small-fixes

e.g

People use the web version of Poppin to either RSVP/buy tickets for a first-time event when they don’t have the app yet or quickly make or post an event without needing to download the app. The flow for the latter user-case is Web landing page → Host an Event → interrupting Sign-up flow (phone # auth) → reroute to event creation flow). But right now that flow is broken and after the user signs-up it simply directs them to the home page, when it should open event-creation flow. This is something we need to patch up / include in the current web code.

Build iOS functionality onto web

e.g

For ticketed events, we have logic encoded that if a given ticket (’Presale Tier 2: $15’) has a limit on # of tickets that can be sold, then at default don’t show users the numRemainingTickets unless it is < 15 or the user is the host of the event. The host perms is already integrated in web, but the <15 logic is not. So we need to incorporate that so that web is at parity with iOS and because it’s an important part of our ticketing features in general.
