Students will practice applying Critical Lenses to well known folk tales.

Students will form specific critiques of their chosen fairy tale, backed by evidence and examples from the story

Students will avoid generalizations and unsupported claims

Review Feminist Critique of Little Mermaid

What do you notice about this critique? What can you use in your own Presentation?

Group Work

In your groups, outline your argument, then put together your presentation. Presentations should include:

Answers to at least 5 of the questions for your Lens and references to specific scenes or elements of the story

A reimagined version of the story that challenges its original themes or messages. (For instance, if the original "Little Mermaid" story portrays anti-feminist ideas, create a version that celebrates female empowerment.)
